Key Areas - Essay Example Town hall meetings are an effective strategy because they offer opportunities for the nurses to discuss a policy issue with a policy maker in the presence of community members (Stewart et al., 2009). These structured discussions offer the nurses and the policy maker to listen to the community and identify some of the concerns and ways of dealing with the issue. In addition, the nurses can inquire for follow up questions to clarify some of the responses (Mason et al., 2011). Additionally, when people are going for a town hall meeting, they are aware of the issue at hand and try to get more information to ask the host (Mason et al., 2011). In this regards, it acts as a way of helping people get more information within the society to learn about its effects, prevalence and ways on how to control it. However, town halls are not an effective strategy because the people may become â€Å"numb† to town halls especially if there have been numerous others that have not addressed their concerns (Stewart et al., 2009).
